New CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) Rules from 6 April 2007

Reform includes £3,000 automatic penalties for non-compliance.

More than 250,000 contractors will be affected by the forthcoming changes to the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), which will come into place in just a month’s time. Contractors across the UK will need to ensure that information they hold on their sub-contractors is correct or face fines of up to £3,000 if they fail to submit accurate and timely returns to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) or provide monthly Sub-contractor Payment & Deduction Statements. The changes are all part of the Government’s move towards electronic transactions and to address the issue of counterfeit cards and certificates, bringing three government databases together to provide single records for each CIS contractor and sub-contractor.

Every business that employs sub-contractors will need to have all their information up-to-date in order to comply with the new regulations. This not only applies to the construction industry but also to other business sectors that employ sub-contractors – such as retail and local councils – where their average annual spend on construction is £1m or more. Automatic penalties of up to £3,000 each month from October 2007, based on the number of sub-contractors employed.”

Access Accounts has a complete CIS module that is full integrated into your purchase ledger and has the following functionality.

  • Enables you to store key information against each subcontractor record and to enable deductions (for tax and CITB levy) to be made at the correct rates.
  • Interacts with the purchasing modules allowing the processing of subcontractors invoices & payments.
  • Any tax that is with-held from payments to subcontractors under the scheme will be accounted for and you will be able to provide statements of deduction to the subcontractors and monthly returns to HMRC.
  • Subcontractors can be matched and verified against HMRC records electronically

If you would like further information on how Access Accounts can help with CIS compliance please contact philip.oakley@intovision.co.uk or telephone 02380 302543.

Professional Services Automation

Remote Users including Web Timesheet and Expense entry.

Within every organisation there are a wide range of people who need quick and easy access to key business information. Data such as time recording and expenses, purchasing, etc must be instantly updated throughout the day, with flexible procedures and controls to ensure that this happens.

IntoVision can provide a centralised system to ensure the correct data is captured and updated for Timesheets, Expenses, Purchasing and Project Management. We can also enable reports to be easily distributed around the organisation, fully controlled via security access.

We offer an extension to the Access Accounts Dimensions business system, to enable many more users within the business to work with and obtain reports without the need to provide direct access to the core business system.

As we offer this as a web-based solution, it can be rapidly deployed to many users without the need to install software for users on the local area network and those wishing to work remotely via the Internet. This presents an organisational workflow solution to ensure internal procedures are adhered to with the required authorisation and approval obtained.

Benefits include

  • Latest Microsoft.NET technology
  • Workflow based data entry
  • Browser interface
  • Improved efficiency
  • Distribution of key management information
  • Centralised data storage
  • Low cost of ownership
  • Available via Intranet or Internet

If you would like further information on how IntoVision can help with any of the above please contact philip.oakley@intovision.co.uk or telephone 02380 302543.

Customers Vote Access “Financial Software of the Year”

Access Accounting has been named 'Financial Software Provider of the Year' by readers of Real FD. Access Accounting was the only independent company to reach the shortlist and beat off competition from 11 other providers to clinch the award.

Real FD invited financial directors to rate their satisfaction with the quality of their core financials system and the level of support provided by the vendor. One FD commented, "Integration has been the key to our success in transforming the finance department. Access technology has really helped me to do this in a relatively painless way."

Access Accounting was praised by FDs for the software's ease of use and flexibility as well as the quality of the company's customer support. Large clients highlighted the professionalism of the implementation process, with Real FD proclaiming Access Accounting to be an all-round winner. The software was also highly commended last year, when once again it was praised for its superior level of customer care.
